This semester, Greek Life at Lynn has welcomed its newest sorority, Phi Mu. Phi Mu is the second sorority on Lynn’s campus joining Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Tri Sigma Sisterhood Chair Brittany Hutchinson said, “It will be great to have another sorority on campus and have more women involved in Greek Life.”
“We are so excited to open our Theta Lambda Chapter on Lynn’s campus,” said Caroline Morris, Resident Chapter Consultant.
Phi Mu’s addition to Lynn has been met with enthusiasm from students and administration alike. Annie Weaver, coordinator of student involvement, is excited about what the fall holds for Greek life at Lynn.
“We are looking forward to adding Phi Mu to our Greek community. Many of our undergraduate women who are not affiliated with a sorority are eager to learn more about what Phi Mu has to offer. Our other Greek organizations have shown nothing but support for Phi Mu and are delighted to have them on campus.”
Founded in 1852, Phi Mu is a women’s organization which provides personal academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendships through a shared tradition.
Phi Mu encourages members to imagine, believe and achieve their aspirations.

The Knights Activities Team has once again helped put together another great comedy show.
On Wednesday, KAT invited HBO comedian Ronnie Jordan to campus for a hilarious stand-up comic performance.
Snacks and drinks were provided and the room was full of pink balloons and candle light setting a comedy club ambiance.
Before the show even started, music was playing for everyone’s enjoyment.
Once Brandon Ackerman, senior, introduced Jordan to the crowd, the laughs followed from the beginning to the end of the performance.
Jordan made jokes about all areas of life. Some topics included joking about roommate situations, relationship troubles and bathroom humor.
“It was good and entertaining,” said Cherry Sein, junior. “This is the second time I’ve seen him live.”
If you did not get a chance to make it to this event do not fret for the Knights Activities Team will be hosting many more wonderful events in the future.

The NCAA and The Freedom Forum is giving sports journalists the chance to win a $3,000 scholarship for the 2009 to 2010 academic year. The scholarship is available to all full time juniors with interests in sports journalism.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to earn money off tuition and showcase sports journalism talents. Eight awards will be given to students who complete an application form and submit three published examples of sports journalism.
“This scholarship is a great opportunity to gain vital exposure to the NCAA and the Lynn community,” said Stephanie Jackson, Communication Instructor. “It gives sports journalists the chance to earn money off their tuition by doing what they love.”
A selection committee selected by the NCAA and The Freedom Forum will select the winning students. The deadline has been set for Dec. 12 and all applications and materials must be posted by this date.
This may be the break through many sports journalists have been waiting for.
For more information contact Professor Jackson on the third floor of the library.

“THE RECESSION” AND “DEATH MAGNETIC”
The Highlighting of Young Jeezy and Metallica New Releases are Reviewed

By Billy Hartigan
Staff Writer

This fall, the music industry has had a great start. Two new releases from Young Jeezy and Metallica prove these artists are not stopping anytime soon and continue to show their talent.
In Young Jeezy’s third studio album “The Recession” complete with high performance energy along with an uncanny ability to tell stories through his lyrics. He often tells of the struggles he has had on the streets, but now he also managed to include topics such as the presidency.
The most surprising part of this album is the lack of superstar producers one would expect from Young Jeezy, with the exception of Kanye West.
“The Reccession” is a good album with great production value and the same great flow Young Jeezy has always expressed. iPulse Music Reviewer, Billy Hartigan, gives this album a 3 out of 5.
Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” is their ninth studio album and is the first to be produced by famous producer Rick Rubin. Metallica also has a new distributor in Warner Brothers.
The change in producer and studio did not put a damper on the band at all. In fact, “Death Magnetic” is like the Metallica of recent years culminating with the current generation.
This album is full of songs that sometimes drag a little to long, but it dose not hurt the album. The solos are all in a very unique rhythmic fashion.
Overall, everything works together well on this album. The vocals are top notch, filled with songs of rage and rebellion. The instrumentals fit beautifully into the songs and add a style that the band has not shown in a while.
Hartigan gives Metallica’s “Death Magnetic” a 4 out of 5 stars.

Going green has never been more crucial in everyday life. Many people are spending more and more money on gas, electricity and living costs than in previous years.
Whether people believe in global warming or not, it is apparent that the environment is in need of attention.
People are being forced to save energy in several different ways.
Students and faculty members were asked: What do you do to save the environment?

Rose D-Andrea-Feagin

“Well I’m very conscious of things like how much water I use and I try to share a car as much as possible to save gas.”
