This year water aerobic classes started and have already made a big splash among students. Water Aerobics classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the pool.
One of Lynn’s newest additions and the Resident Director of Freiburger, Christina Johnson, has been teaching Water Aerobics since 2003 and has taught it each week at Lynn; about 5 to 10 students participate regularly in classes and really enjoy them.
“Water Aerobics is really hard, but so much fun,” said Katie Comerford, sophomore.
Not only does water aerobics provide a casual, simple social hour, but it also enhances cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance.
“It’s a challenge at your own level; you can adjust the intensity of your workout by altering the speed and size of your movements,” said Johnson. “Water aerobics is a great way to break the monotony of a typical weight lifting regimen.”
Water aerobics is a guaranteed heart pumping cardio workout, and believe it or not participants can sweat in the water.
For more information, fitness classes, intramurals or recreational activities, visit the Fitness Center bulletin board on the first floor of the Lynn Residence Center or call 561-237-7260.

The global economy is the worst it has been since The Great Depression. As a result, many Lynn University international students are suffering due to the poor currency exchange rate.
Over the past few years, Europeans have enjoyed a very high exchange rate for the dollar. The British pound was worth more than two American dollars, while the Euro was worth one and a half. These figures have dropped immensely over the last year with the pound losing more than 25 cents per pound. This is now the lowest value in five years.
“I feel like my money is just slipping away each day,” said Joe Cundall, sophomore. “I do not know when it will improve, but I hope it is very soon.”
This economy crisis has been felt throughout the world with many banks facing closure or takeover. The global affect has been so bad that the British government has decided to take over two of the country’s worst banks. The Royal Bank of Scotland and HBSO could be given government representatives to be installed on their boards. The British Government has made £50 billion available to be invested into banks. Only time will tell what the outcome will be. |

The craze of facebook and myspace has taken over this generation. Many students enjoy the social aspects of networking on these individualized and personalized sites that serve as online communities to it’s registered members. Students partake in these sites for a variety of reasons including networking with past and present friends, blogging about exciting adventures as well as utilizing the tool as a means to meet new friends.
There are numerous differences between the two networking sites, such as information that one wants others to see, privacy settings, two separate target markets and use of technology to personalize each site.
Although the number of registered members on myspace outweigh facebook member, it is evident to see what college students prefer.

As most students can feel around campus, the weather has been changing and it is extremely hard to decipher what outfit to put on in the morning by just simply glaring out the window. Although the sun might be shining, one could step outside and want to run right back in due to the chilliness around certain areas of South Florida.
During this fall season, climates are changing all over the country so for these occurrences, one must be properly dressed for whatever the days weather may bring. Over years, months and even weeks, trends can change with a snap of a finger, and being a college student with a set budget, always shopping for the “in style” clothes can be painful to the pocket. With these small but helpful tips one could keep him or herself updated with the changing trends by simply looking in their closet for classic pieces they may have forgotten were even there.
What is being seen in magazines, on television, and even around campus this fall is layering. By layering, one can keep warm and still look presentable if the ensemble is put together correctly. Sweaters are a definite must have around this time of year and top items in stores are turtlenecks, v-necks and classic sweaters in materials such as cotton, cashmere and wool. If wearing a sweater , however, make sure that all of these different materials let the piece of clothing circulate air throughout. Nobody wants to be breaking a sweat just to look cute.
Boots can be worn for many different occasions and in many different ways. A high boot can be matched with either a skirt or dress, while ankle boots can look very slimming with a pair of tight fit jeans.
With all of these essential items being worn to keep one comfortable, it is very important to remember that it is now autumn, not spring and colors, fabrics and prints should be in warm and earthy tones. Blacks and navy blues will always look great regardless of what season it is, and sometimes mixing these colors with a rich ruby red or a dark emerald green can make a simple outfit more fall fitting. Menswear prints such as checks, plaids and pinstripes are always a safe route to take for jackets and blazers. However if it is going to be cold out, one should throw on a sweatshirt, sweatpants, jeans or a thick long sleeve shirt to be comfortable. It goes without saying that flip flops in this cooling weather would not be the best choice because once feet are cold, the rest of the body does not have any chance of keeping itself warm very long. Advised through many fashion articles and magazines is to stay away from too bold of patterns because some can be too tiring to the eyes.
Autumn is a perfect time to take out that great leather or suede bag in a warm and earthy tone to complete an outfit. Invest in a few of these staple items in specified colors and prints, and the autumn season’s wardrobe will be a breeze.

The scales now used to weigh luggage at South Florida Airports have been proven to be inaccurate.
“I see this to be unfair for frequent flyers. It is bad enough that they are now charging us per luggage after the first bag which is free,” said Brittany Reicker, senior. “Eventually people are going to start using carry-ons just so they don’t have to deal with such ridiculous charges.”
An analysis of governmental inspection records of about 2,000 airport baggage scales revealed that more than 25% of the scales failed to be accurate between 2005 and 2008. The results of the analysis show the customers could be paying penalties for overweight baggage wrongfully.
“I think that we pay enough for our airline tickets and there is no need to charge such a large fee for just a few pounds over the limit, especially because there are no scales that are the same,” said Meagan Fitzgerald, senior.
Past records show that Palm Beach International Airport had the worst record for weight-related scale failures at 12%. Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport had only a 4% rate of failure. It is unclear as to whether the scale actually went in favor of the airline or the customers. However, state officials said that the inaccuracies often times are in favor of the customers.
“The scales being improperly balanced has a negative effect both on customers and security issues since the pilot had to know how much weight the plane is carrying,” said Sergio Gregori, senior. |

The holiday season is approaching again and its that time of the year when everyone is starting to look for gifts. If one is looking to give someone a perfect present, then they should check out the new Ipod Nano.
The new Nano has been redesigned with a stylish new look, which is a step forward from the older generation. The longer sleek design is very attractive while still living up to the small reputation.
What makes the new Nano look so attractive is the new material that Apple is integrating into their products, aluminum. The aluminum allows the Nano to shine, creating a curved design and makes the glass screen pop. However, when shoppers survey MP3 players, they tend to buy based on color and storage capacity. Apple dominates the MP3 market and the Nano is definitely one of the company’s greatest strengths.
The Nano comes in nine vibrant colors, all of which are very unique. An area where the Nano was lacking in the past was storage capability. Now buers can pick between a 4, 8 or 16 GB drive, which gives customers a wide range of variation based on storage and allowes more storage for photos, music and videos. Video is a new feature that the Nano has incorporated into its design along with the ability to rotate the Nano and flip through album art, watch movies and TV shows in widescreen, similar to the iPhone or iTouch. Apple has really gone out of their way to make the Nano look even better and adds just enough new features to make it worth buying. Prices start at $149.00 and would be the perfect gift for anyone this holiday season.
